Given the fact that I'm still struggling with "livelock" problem on
Irix, I'm somewhat reluctant to take that abort out. Maybe after I
understand the code around it a bit better and find out what is going
on with events being lost I could do it, but so far it's just a "heads
up" in case someone has one of those "A-ha!" moments.
