Hi,
I've been trying to solve this on my own, but can't think of anything else.
I also tried searching for this error, but found no solution offered.
I apologize if there is actually a solution I should have found.
Here is the problem:
I upgraded from Kubuntu Draper to Edgy and something happened to (X)Emacs fonts.
When I try to launch XEmacs, it exits with the error message attached.
I also attached the gdb output. The core itself is about 10MB, so I am
not sending that, but I can if you think that helps.
The problem occurs in whatever way I try to launch XEmacs, except that
it runs fine when invoked by 'xemacs -nw'.
Just to test, I tried to launch Emacs. That one runs, but the text is
garbled, so I suppose the problem occurs there as well.
I tried reinstalling both emacs and xemacs. I did that in various ways
using one of kubuntu's package managers. I tried to force installing
dependencies, but according to all of them, every dependency is
satisfied.
I also tried installing from the tarball on
xemacs.org, but ran it to
some problem that I could not resolve. Please see the attached
"configure_output" file for the just that. I read the suggestion at
the end, but could not figure out what option I would need or what I
am missing.
I posted pretty much the same message on
kubuntuforums.net yesterday,
but so far received no replies.
I would very much appreciate any help, because (X)Emacs is essential
to my work!!
Thanks very much!
-Sandor
