Unfortunately, I saw this a couple of weeks ago. I think
what happened to me was that I had a full file system. Then
I opened a file with XEmacs, modified it and tried to save it.
That resulted in the file being truncated to 0 bytes. I was
running under Red Hat 7.3.

Subject: Problem when file system is full.
When the file system is full and we open existing
file in that file system, then emacs seems to truncate that file
upon exiting from emacs.
