A copy has been placed on the XEmacs FTP site:
ftp://ftp.xemacs.org:/pub/xemacs/aux/bzip2-0.9.0b.tar.gz
Due to the better level of compression given by bzip2, I will start
uploading XEmacs releases to
ftp.xemacs.org as .tar.bz2 files instead
of the bulkier .tar.gz. The 21.0 release (whenever that will be) will
have both .tar.gz and .tar.bz2 files. Both egcs and the Linux kernel
have been issuing simultaneous .tar.gz and .tar.bz2 files and it's
time we do too. Note that the bzip2 webpage includes a patch to GNU
tar so `tar z' can work on them.
The current version comes with a library just like zlib. It might be
an interesting project to bind it at the lisp level as a loadable
module or something like that.
Someone who can, might wish to create binaries and a DLL for microsoft
windows, in which case they should be added to aux/ as well.
For those who had problems with previous versions of bzip2, please
give this a try and let me know how things go.
