Too bad---I had seen that there were some serious disagreements
between Andrew Choi and the xemacs devs.
It's not like he is on perfectly amicable terms with Emacs developers,
either.
But it's a bit hopeless since I'm stuck in a triangle
between
xemacs, auctex, and Andrew Choi. Sad, because I had really begun to
like xemacs over gnu emacs, but it looks like the minority using
carbon xemacs with auctex is so tiny as to be invisible. Anyway,
thanks for the courteous reply.
But you can still report your problem to Andrew Choi, and if he is not
willing to examine the problem, you should still be able to revert to
any version of XEmacs capable of running on X11.
And if you really find it impossible to stay with XEmacs for your
purposes, you can try to persuade people to improve Emacs in those
areas where you find it lacking as compared to XEmacs.
