Consider using the test-harness.el facility. I plan to package it,
but for the moment you can get it from tests/automated/test-harness.el
in the source directory. Although it's poorly documented, it is easy
to use, and there are lots of examples in that directory. There are a
few lines of documentation on regression testing in the Internals
manual.
