One case where it would give a problem is when two or more developers
would want to cooperate on somethings and feel like the main packages
repo is a good place to do that. This has been pointed out before.
I think that there are some good alternatives for these
developers. One could be to use their bitbucket accounts and set up a
repo for the package they are working with and collaborate
there. Pushing to the main packages repo when there is a stable or
sharable version.
I think that it should also be possible to use named branches. The
big problem with named branches is that they have a habit of coercing
"tip" to themselves, and you end up with everybody that pulls from
that repo on a branch that's not related to them.
This may have been fixed since I did that....
