I don't know what's best but I've used dvcs with xemacs. Had to hack some
changes to make it work but it worked ok.
I'm now currently using git.el. This works pretty well, and I really like
it because it's very similar to pcl-cvs that I used for ages. Some
functionality is missing, though, like dealing with merging of conflicts
because smerge is missing. There was a issue with adding files that I've
hacked around so that it works.
