I see you've got ESD support. Do you use ESD? It is known to do some things with interrupts that don't agree with XEmacs (or something, I forget the details). There was one crash with merely xemacs -vanilla, M-: all-hail-xemacs RET -- which IIRC went away when ESD was turned off. I seem to recall an association with progress bar crashes, too, but that may just be wishful thinking. I'll try and get the thread but you might just try configuring --with-sound=native, and see if the crashes go away.
