Given the various possible permutations of cygwin installs, isn't
there a way to determine the cygwin variant (e.g., overall cygwin
version, version of cygwin DLL, etc.)? There's got to be a correlation
between "cygwin works" and "cygwin doesn't work", and the cygwin
variant
that users are using.
