I don't. I simply 'move' them. And all the xemacs code to
/usr/local_shadow/...
Then I install from scratch. If something turns up "bad", I simply move
the new version out and the old good version in. I always have the last
good version as a backup.
It really isn't necessary with XEmacs. But it has been with other stuff,
so I just do it for consistency with XEmacs.
