Actually, from my linux box to my mac, I have a wired 100Mb ethernet
connection and I can see the zillion redraws if I just move the window
or resize the window.
I'm not complaining too much though. For my use, all I really need is
tramp, so things are fast enough. I just kind of miss that
functionality. If I really need to run remotely, there's always
xemacs -nw, which works great, since I don't use the mouse that much.
