Greetings,
Say I'm working in AucTeX (11.84 -- Uwe asked what version)
on a LaTeX file RedMars.tex (which I am). I use C-c C-c to
run TeX-command-master and it runs pdflatex on the file. All
is well and good so far. Then I run C-c C-c again to View
it, and without having set the option that %V evaluates to:
xpdf -remote RedMars -raise RedMars.pdf
I don't know that I even have xpdf on the system.
You are on a Mac? Have you port installed? You got just then install
xpdf.
I can go in there and substitute "open" for everything
from
xpdf through -raise and it works. Which is great. But it
isn't saved that way, which is what I'm trying to
accomplish.
You mean you hit the save button at the beginning of the customise
buffer then it done but your change is not saved?
"open" from a bash command line in Mac OS X is how I view
PDF files probably half the time. In fact, I use "open" for
most any kind of application generated data file to open it
in whatever application makes use of it.
If I replace the %V with a hard-coded "open", it loses the
options. That's my problem. It needs to also plug in the
name of the PDF file that I want to view.
Ok there are several solutions to this. But let me propose you
something. I just finished the synchronisation of auctex 11.88 to the
official xemacs package system. It will take some time before it will
show up officially.
In 11.88 the issue is as I said different (besides you will have
automatic forward and backward search for dvi *and* pdf files). Could
you install please Skim or (okular via port)
Are you willing to play the guinea pig? Then I would send the pre
release pkg together with some instructions.
So that's my original question.
Uwe
