My memory is weak when it comes to auctex since I don't use it
myself
but didn't we fix the package build for 11.84?
Well it was _you_ who fixed it by rewriting the Makefile,:-D I merely
run the tests.
Couldn't you just try to use that as a basis for building 11.87
in
the package tree? Maybe a diff between 11.84 and 11.87 of the
upstream Makefile could be a good starting point in what we need to
adjust for the package tree.
Misunderstanding: I did not mean the process of synchronizing the latest
mainstream auctex 11.87 version to our package version. Since,
fortunately, this time the auctex team did not rewrote the entire make
process there is a good change that the synchronizing should be less
painful than last time.
My point is another, since there is no active Xemacs hacker in the
auctex team, I am not sure that the new version will run trouble free,
although the auctex team tries generously to support Xemacs.
So I just thought before trying to synchronize I should test it (at
least for 21.5.). And thought the easiest way would be to use their
auctex xemacs pkg.
In any case I found a "bug" in our current version I will report in a
different email.
Uwe
