All,
(re-)building Xemacs 21.4 on Arch Linux via pkgsrc, I find that inlined
function prototypes in src/gmalloc.c conflict with the system headers,
breaking the build.
After patching this file, the build then hangs at
./xemacs -nd -batch -l
/var/obj/pkgsrc/editors/xemacs/work/xemacs-21.4.24/src/../lisp/update-elc.el
with the xemacs process spinning at 100% cpu (this rings a faint bell,
but I can't ATM put my finger on it).
Configuring the build with "--with-system-malloc" fixes both issues.
What is the status of the XEmacs GNU malloc on 21th century unixen? What
can break, and what do I need to be aware of, when building with the
systen malloc lib instead of the default builtin lib?
Cheerio,
hauke
