This is an explicit goal of the XEmacs project, and has been for two
decades (ie, since the original decision of the Lucid engineers that
they had to do something about the lack of direction at GNU Central).
The problem is not goals, it's resources.
How much are you willing to pay to support achieving that goal?
will give XEmacs another try and see if I get a built from sources with
a reasonable effort
