Now it is my turn to reply lazily :-).
A week is nothing ;)
First, thank you for taking the time to look into this, and for
writing up a
sketch of a proposed fix. I don't have time right now to properly consider the
issues you raise, but I do intend to maintain `scroll-in-place', and so I will
keep your comments in my list of things to look into.
Great!
Second, ``wrong'' is a pretty strong word.
Look at w3m or preview-latex or something like that with lots of big images
and say it's right ;)
--- sure, *when you wrote it* it was entirely correct. But reality changes,
and torpedoes the best of us :(
But I think that when
`scroll-in-place.el'
was last modified, in 1994,
It was that long ago?
[checks]
Sheesh. I misread it as 1998... I need a new pair of glasses, or saving
that a new brain. You're to be commended for writing code that deals in
such a delicate area and held up so well, then :)
I will give this matter some thought, and think about the approach
that you
propose. Exactly when, though, I can't say.
OK. If I get annoyed enough by it I'll send some patches your way. (The
thing I'm working on right now, preview-latex, leads to *lots* of
variable-height lines.)
