Sigh. I installed SXEmacs, and the bug is . . . there, but
different:
Neither is surprising. The underlying code is derived from the same
line of development, but has diverged.
I wouldn't be surprised if the SXEmacs guys come up with a fix first,
but it will probably be applicable to XEmacs 21.4, and adaptable to
XEmacx 21.5.
I have verified that the bug bites in 21.5, too.
