It should (desiderata) not notice the change. Otherwise it's not
portable.
It should (theory) not notice the change. The dump file is written in
our own format and is a data file, thus not linked and not affected by
linker behavior.
I'll be very interested to hear about tests.
both
./configure --cflags=-O3 --debug=no --error-checking=none
--prefix=/packages/stow/xemacs-21.4.1 --pdump '--ldflags=-s -znocombreloc'
and
./configure --cflags=-O3 --debug=no --error-checking=none
--prefix=/packages/stow/xemacs-21.4.1 --pdump
work, i.e. it seems that the portable dumper really doesn't care about
comreloc. As far as I can see, XEmacs works fine with the portable
dumper. Does the portable dumper have any disadvantages? Is it
recommended to build binary packages of XEmacs with the portable
dumper?
