Strange. Why does changing
keysym c = c NoSymbol 0x010000a2 currency
to
keysym c = c NoSymbol cent currency
in ~/.Xmodmap make the ¢ work then?
As I said, I don’t know why the former syntax doesn’t work for you. It works
for me, and the only possible reason I can think of for it not working is an
old X server that doesn’t support Markus Kuhn’s keysym extensions (proposed
in 1998).
