[ Bleah.  Can anyone recommend a good, cheap Linux? ]
 
 Assuming this isn't a joke, I'll point out that free is already about as
 cheap as you can get.  I typically shell out a whopping $2.00[1] to either 
     It's not a joke.  I don't normally do Linux (I use FreeBSD), but
I'll take a stab at doing a Linux port of CVSup, as it's pretty nice.
However, I know nothing about Linux, except that there're lots of
different variants, and so I'd like some recommendations on which
distribution to get.  I don't want to waste time with installation/setup 
issues, and so I'd like to know what I should get (it also has to be
compatible with what Steve has).
