Don't know if that is necessary at this point to have write access. The public access for reading works well for evaluation. I did a quick test and I can't get it to work with latest 21.5. When I select a new theme the size of the icons change but not the pixmap. There is no error message that something went wrong. Although the size changes it doesn't seem like they are getting the specified size either!? I'm sorry not to be able at this moment to provide a better error description. Maybe you can put it to some use.
