Uh, if you're doing this from the command line, then you're telling
XEmacs that you don't want it connected to `tty` and you do want it
connected to `tty`. Make up your mind, already! ;-)
Do you get the same problem with devices that XEmacs doesn't already
have open? If there is no problem, I think for 21.4 the right thing
to do is document that the semantics of "-t `tty`" are not clearly
defined yet and it doesn't work.
I guess the expected semantics are to close the pty and reopen it?
