Yes, we're talking about the same thing. I got it to work the other
day with an X-Face glyph (I copied yours out of the article header)
and an XPM. The same code isn't working now, but I get white instead
of black substituted for the color I want. :-( So the glyph-handling
for the toolbar is broken.
I would say don't try to fix the color in this release, it's an XEmacs
bug. Preserve the text glyph that works, and pass on my apologies to
your users for the toolbar glyph. If you _really_ want a pretty
glyph, fire up an image editor and copy the image to an XPM. That
should work, all the built-in toolbar images are XPMs. I suspect that
XPMs and other bitmap formats work because they use masks rather than
alpha-channel to specify transparency.
I'll see if Andy knows something about this, but I know he's busy in
the real world right now, so don't hold up your release on it.
