what to do with tm

I'm working on an XEmacs package for MH-E 8.0.3, and I've discovered that it breaks the package build in tm. This isn't too surprising, given tm's liberal use of MH-E internal interfaces. I'm not planning to fix tm to work with MH-E 8, but beyond that I'm not sure what to do. gnus, MH-E, and (if I understand correctly) VM all have their own facilities for dealing with MIME messages now. Do we need tm any longer, or can we just delete it?
