Ar an cúigiú lá is fiche de mí Bealtaine, scríobh Rodney Sparapani:
Oh, that was dumb. I didn't have /usr/share/fonts pointing to
anything.
However, what is it supposed to point to? If I hide my .Xdefaults and
I link /usr/share/fonts to /usr/openwin/lib/X11/fonts,
then it doesn't die immediately, but it starts consuming massive amounts
of memory, about 1G in 30 seconds, so I have to kill it.
Sounds like the fontconfig cache isn’t available, so the fontconfig library
is creating it on start, and you’ve a hell of a lot of fonts. Run fc-cache;
I believe you need to be root to write the cache files to the system
directories, so if you’re not, that could be a problem :-/ .

On the quay of the little Black Sea port, where the rescued pair came once
more into contact with civilization, Dobrinton was bitten by a dog which was
assumed to be mad, though it may only have been indiscriminating. (Saki)
