Yes. But if it goes into the packages it must be *readable* by 2.14,
even if it does nothing useful.
Yes I am talking about 24. And no the their hebrew file, in their
quail
package is not UTF8 encoded, instead it has the following header.
;; hebrew.el --- Quail package for inputting Hebrew characters
;; -*-coding: iso-2022-7bit;-*-
OK, they have two hebrew.el files. The other one is UTF8. I think
this should work in XEmacs, I'm not sure why it doesn't. (OTOH, it's
typical GNU crap -- the encoding used actually switches out ASCII
completely, and isn't really permitted in ISO-2022. It's a GNU
extension.)
So Aidan says yes to UTF8 you seem to say no. What shall I do?
Keep it in UTF-8 until there's a serious chance of it being added
officially. AFAIK there's no issue of losing information by
transcoding ISO Hebrew to UTF-i and back.
