Could you try the most recent version, 2002-02-18, to see if that
fixes the problem? It's not quite clear to me what you need to do to
get it, though.
There are tarballs on SourceForge (http://sf.net/projects/tramp), but
these are not XEmacs packages. Not sure when the changes will show
up as an XEmacs package.
