I have no more suggestions. I was really just taking a shot in the dark (and, as it turns out, causing panic in the streets). I'm guessing your problem is alpha-specific. It seems like dumping didn't work. Did you say temacs works, but only in -batch mode? Perhaps one of the alpha mavens can offer some suggestions.
