Ar an t-ochtú lá de mí Lúnasa, scríobh Hossein et Isabelle Abbaspour:
I just installed Xemacs on a RHEL5, and it turns out that many
actions
are crashing it: like *find* or *syntax highlighting* as an
example. Moreover, my menubar is half in english and half in french(
no interpreting accent). How can I fix it?
If you would like your menubar to be exclusively in English, rename the
directories:
$PREFIX/lib/xemacs/mule-packages/etc/app-defaults/fr
$PREFIX/lib/xemacs/mule-packages/etc/start-files/fr
(where $PREFIX is probably /usr/local or /usr) to, for example, fr0 instead
of fr. If you would like your menubar to be exclusively in French, you can
send us a patch updating
$PREFIX/lib/xemacs/mule-packages/etc/app-defaults/fr/Emacs . That requires
understanding the format of the file, and where to find the resource names,
which is not in itself too difficult, but which you may not have time to do.
As to the crashes, please send us some C backtraces; 21.4 should be
relatively stable, and it is very much the exception for us to hear about
regular crashes for it. Adding the line
(setq progress-feedback-use-echo-area t)
to your ~/.xemacs/init.el and restarting probably won’t help, because that’s
for a Motif-specific bug if I remember correctly; it may also be worth your
while to upgrade to the most recent stable version, 21.4.20.
