No. I'm pretty sure that the problem is either in mule-ucs utf-8
coding-system or the CCL byte-code engine. I'm better on mule-ucs.
You could try doing the same experiment with one of Aidan's new 8-bit
coding systems which use CCL. (Latin-1 won't uncover a CCL bug,
that's written in C.)
I never had time to do more than a quick glance at the code. I'll try
to work on this in the coming weeks as I can, so if there's any
updates, I'd like to be notified.
Are these 8bit coding systems something I'll have to backport from 21.5?
