How would you personally use such a[n integrated distributed
development environment]
to contribute to XEmacs?
Well, considering a Savannah/SourceForge-type hosting site[*], one of
the first things I'd do is set up a wiki to capture as much
information about XEmacs as possible. (If you get hit by the
proverbial bus, we are all majorly hosed. It would send XEmacs
development back into the last century.)
For example, in your latest message about Mercurial revision numbers,
I see that you, in a previous message, provided a recipe for setting
the menubar font. That belongs under the topics "The Menubar",
"Fonts", and "X Defaults and xrdb". (Of course, any information
entered should be entered in *one* place only, and all other entries
should be links.)
Another example: Once the whole Mercurial revision number topic
settles down, whatever is decided should be captured in the wiki as well.
Naturally, entering all the tidbits of information and lore that are
bandied about on the XEmacs Beta list is too tedious for one person,
but if everyone contributed each time they unearthed a morsel, the
wiki could quickly become one of our most valuable resources.

[*] Despite my mentioning Savannah/SourceForge several times, I have
no particular preference for them; they are simply familiar to most
people, so make a good representative example.
