It's been a long time, and my memory pretty fuzzy, but I think
FreeBSD 3.X (an old version, which Kasahara-san is using) acted this
way. Newer versions of FreeBSD (4.X and later) don't act this way, and
"act correctly".
However, what do you expect people to do if they want to link Motif
statically, which older version of XEmacs does support? Are we going to
take away this ability?
