this was done this way on purpose, based on two lines of reasoning:
(1) it's more complicated to explain the whole $prefix issue, and
(2) if you really need to muck with it, you shouldn't need
instructions at this hand-holding level.
Or are you referring specifically to the package install location in
line 7? If so, could you provide specific location/platform pairs?
Then I can make up a table. I am (unfortunately) woefully ignorant of
non-RedHat distros.
