To avoid the crash I have removed all references to helvetica in my
local .Xresources. There seems to be some fixed size fonts etc that it
finds then that allow it to show a GUI. It doesn't look pretty but it
works.
Yuck. It shouldn't. I mean that the Xlib font code *should* (IMHO)
be substituting *something* for Helvetica, and I don't understand why
it doesn't. I'll think about it and whether it's worth doing anything
about it.
