Thanks for the bug report. Could you please run configure under bash and see
if you get the same result? I suspect the cause is a difference in quoting
rules between bash and NetBSD's /bin/sh that is causing problems with my
re-definition of the macro AC_LANG(C).
Switching to /bin/ksh fixes it; give me five minutes to install bash.
