If you're serious that they should _never_ be referenced outside of
JDE, then why the hell are they being provided as features? That's
just plain Wrong.
Yeah, and there is actually stuff that might use the JDE "internals" to
some extent. Maybe eg. CSDE (<http://csde.sourceforge.net/>) could, or
already does.
