Dear Bug Team!
Running 'M-x display-time' (the mail check and load meter in modeline)
causes XEmacs to dump core.
With the help of Edebug I was able to track it down to the function
'display-time-convert-num' in time.el. Specifically:
'(set-extent-property (car elem) 'balloon-help balloon-help)'
