crash when load .xml file

In XEmacs 21.4 (patch 2) "Developer-Friendly Unix APIs" [Lucid] (i686-pc-linux, Mule) of Tue May 22 2001 on iqara configured using `configure --with-mule --with-pop' Please describe exactly what actions triggered the bug and the precise symptoms of the bug: Things are really unstable when I call up an .xml file using psgml 1.23. I use 'save-place, 'saveconf, and 'recent-files. Lots of times xemacs crashes when I call up an .xml file. If an .xml file was open when I previously shut down xemacs, this will also happen on startup. I tried booting up on startup with "xemacs -debug-init" on such an occasion, and I dumped core.
