I don't think the others (e.g., --with-athena=3d) are
necessarily
going to please a large enough segment of our users.
I haven't really looked at the other options in this way but I think
it would be useful if the bare configure could produce a good default
for the target machine. That is what configure is for right? So that
it is not just a reasonable default but what we recommend building on
that platform under those conditions.
