You're missing the history of this. During my one (and only)
one-on-one phone call with Stallman most of the time was
spent with him explaining how he must go to war with
XEmacs because we did not assign ownership of the code
over to him.

OK, don't have that experience and don't question yours.
Let me say in an abstract sense though: outstanding people
are capable of outstanding errors.
Assuming that pertains to more then one person in FS-world.
Lets enjoy it nonetheless - be patient with yourself too.
