Sun keyboards have Alt and Meta.
(martin@tru64) ~cdx/import/emacs/src $ xmodmap -pke | egrep -i 'alt|meta'
keycode 26 = Alt_L
keycode 127 = Meta_L
keycode 129 = Meta_R
Japanese Tru 64 keyboards seem to only have keys labelled Alt, not
Meta, but xmodmap reports:
(martin@tru64) ~cdx/import/emacs/src $ DISPLAY=tru64:0 xmodmap -pke | egrep -i
'alt|meta'
keycode 25 = Alt_L
keycode 57 = Alt_R
keycode 133 = Alt_L
keycode 134 = Alt_R
keycode 139 = Meta_L
keycode 140 = Meta_R
i guess i wasn't sure of the key names.
But you shouldn't have to have a database, since we have
(x-keysym-on-keyboard-p "Alt_L")
==> t
(x-keysym-on-keyboard-p "Meta_L")
==> t
and one of these is false on Tru64?

In order to save my hands, I am cutting back on my mail. I also write
as succinctly as possible -- please don't be offended. If you send me
mail, you _will_ get a response, but please be patient, especially for
XEmacs-related mail. If you need an immediate response and it is not
apparent in your message, please say so. Thanks for your understanding.
