Being a UNIX hard-liner, I thought a UNIX-only SXEmacs was a great
idea
in theory. However, in practice, it seems to be Linux-only. A bad
vision for them IMHO.
It's not a question of vision, it's a question of what the developers
use. AFAIK the SXEmacs developers all are small-company/consultant
types and/or students. So Linux is what they use.
They're also very much feature creatures, as you can see from the list
of rather specialized libraries they have Lisp bindings for. To each
his own! Vive la difference! At the very least, there is a lot of
potential for cross pollination, and we will carry the torch for
portability (to the extent that we don't totally stumble and drop
everything ;-).
