ok, here is something that puzzles me.
i get them automatically. I see a tab when i start up xemacs, it
disappears when the splash screen comes up. I never see a tab after
that. not in any buffer.
from what other people have said in previous msgs, it sounds like they
should be visible all the time. right?
i haven't done anything to explicitly turn them off.
