Killing ispell process under cygwin-xemacs

Hi When interrupting a running ispell process under XEmacs 21.2 (beta38) "Peisino,Ak(B" [Lucid] (i686-pc-cygwin) of Sun Dec 17 2000 on VZELL I get the following message: kill (327, 9) failed: No such process But the running ispell process had the exact same process id. Anyway the killing works. Can someone running the cygwin version of xemacs check this behaviour. I cannot reproduce this behaviour with Xemacs-21.1.12.there I got "Ispell process killed".
