Yup. Nothing we can do about that. The crash you're seeing is really
just XEmacs saying "I can't find any fonts." It's an issue that
requires substantial familiarity with the distro, because that level
of font-handling is all done within X11.

xemacs.org, but ran it

I'm not sure what's going on there. You could try configuring with
./configure --with-modules=no
However, your config output says that there are no usable widget sets
on the machine. You either have to install the Athena widgets, or
install GTK v1, or do without a graphical interface. Again, this is
something that somebody who knows Kubuntu can probably solve fairly
quickly.
