Sounds like more of the same (ESD stealing signals, leaving us with a
nasty race condition). Unfortunately the code that does this is in
the ESD library. From your bug-report info, it's not clear whether
you have ESD or not (for a long time ESD was automatically added if
detected, even though the configure line says --with-sound=native).
Also, since your XEmacs is apparently 21.1.14, there may have been
mouse-wheel bugs back then; it's been a long time since that was
released and most people are now using 21.4, so we'll have to go
digging in the archives if we don't come up with something obvious.
