Try adding /var/info to
`Info-directory-list' (buffer: *Buffer List*, mode: Buffer Menu)
I tried this before, as per the doc-string. But when I try:
customize-variable, I get a beep when I type in Info-directory-list.
If I use completion after I type Info- , I get a list of variables,
none of which are Info-directory-list. If I try help .. v and type
Info-directory-list, I get the current value and the doc-string which
decribes using "customize-variable" etc. Does customize-variable
allow you to use Info-directory-list on your system? It won't here,
on the latest 21.0 and 21.2.
I tried to use the variable via the .emacs file, but I could not find
the syntax that would keep the existing values, and add one new value
to the end.
Thank you for all you do.
Robert
Variable:
value: see below
List of directories to search for Info documentation files.
The first directory in this list, the "dir" file there will become
the (dir)Top node of the Info documentation tree. If you wish to
modify the info search path, use `M-x customize-variable,
Info-directory-list' to do so.
value:
("/Program Files/XEmacs/packages/info" "/Program
Files/XEmacs/Xemacs-21.0/info"
"/opt/gnu/info"
"/usr/local/info")
Property-list:
force-value: t
saved-value: ((quote ("/Program Files/XEmacs/packages/info"
"/Program Files/XEmacs/Xemacs-21.0/info" "/opt/gnu/info"
"/usr/local/info")))
Good Luck,
Adrian
