Cygwin and subprocess problems in 21.4.1?

In XEmacs 21.4.1 (i686-pc-cygwin) of Wed Dec 6 2000 on ANDRE configured using `configure --cflags=-O --site-prefixes=/usr/local --debug=no --error-checking=none' With XEmacs 21.4.1, I'm seeing odd behavior when subprocesses are involved, but only under Cygwin (whatever the most recent netinstall version is). I've seen xemacs crash when executing p4, ispell.el report that ispell.exe wasn't returning version information, and ediff cause xemacs to go into some sort of spin. I've reverted to 21.2.38 and everything works fine. I've also tried to recreate the failures on Solaris but I cannot. Though I seem to get some sort of error when I start ediff. I have the latest lisp sumo tarball so I'm pretty sure it's not that. The fact that I don't see any of these failures under 21.2.38 has me casting a wary eye at 21.4.1. Thanks. -andre.
