(setq default-abbrev-mode t)
I not quite sure but somebody on the list told me that it is
a bad idea to have
(setq default-abbrev-mode t)
Now I found this in
http://www.emacswiki.org/emacs/AbbrevMode
so I presume this should be changed then.
